A Palliative Nurse Practitioner’s role is to provide high-quality, effective management for patients facing debilitating chronic diseases and life-threatening illnesses. An evidence-based medical treatment, Palliative Care has been shown to result in less symptom distress and longer patient survival, as well as better patient and family quality of life.
Our Palliative Nurse Practitioner provides support to our patients and their families, helping them identify and understand what the patient’s wishes are and what the goals for their care are. She can also provide help with navigating the sometimes-difficult conversations about advance care planning. The importance of having advance directives is to help guide caregivers in honoring the patient’s wishes during treatment and at the end of life.
